The Mid-York Color Guard Circuit is excited to announce a training and recital opportunity for all pageantry arts and dance organizations in Central New York!!
The professional dance company PHOENIX PROJECT DANCE, made up of performers from the US and Canada, will be providing intermediate and advanced dance classes at the CNS High School, Route 31, Cicero NY, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, and will deliver a recital performance at 7:00 pm, all on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the CNS High School gymnasium and auditorium. These classes, which will be divided into intermediate and advanced categories, will be taught by Members and Staff of the Company, many of whom have pageantry arts experience in addition to their formal dance training. This is a PERFECT opportunity for the color guard, dance ensemble, and dance company organizations in Central NY to learn new skills, meet professional dancers “up close”, perform with your peers, and for Instructors to learn valuable teaching and fundamental techniques to take your programs to the next level of Movement proficiency!
The schedule for the classes will be:
3:30 - 4:30 Stretching, "across the floors", and technique
4:30 - 5:30 Weight Sharing/Lifting and Dance Combinations appropriate to the Intermediate or Advanced Level
Following these classes, there will be a dinner break at 5:30. Then, at 7 pm, the Phoenix Project Dance company will perform pieces from their 2015 tour repertoire. The Phoenix Project Dance Design team (Amber Perkins, Mikey Perkins, and Travis St.-Denny) are internationally renowned, yet have their roots in Central NY. Their pageantry arts teaching credentials include Onyx Winter Guard, the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, the Patriots Winter Guard and Drum Corps, and Spectrum Winter Guard, just to name a few. They are also designers and instructors at the Perkins School of the Arts, located in Norwich, NY.
Thanks to the Company’s support for the youth of Central NY, and the support of the C-NS Winter Guard, the Mid-York Color Guard Circuits, and Mid-York Hall of Fame Members Larry Schmidt, and Chris and Beth Calhoun, we are able to provide these dance classes and recital at a very affordable rate. The two hours of classes will cost ONLY $10 to attend, and the evening recital performance will also cost ONLY $10. Attendees can come to either the training classes, or the recital, or both. Payment will be made (cash only please) at the school, where registration will begin at 2:45 pm. Attendees to the recital alone can arrive and register at 6:30 pm.
In order to plan effectively for the event, please go to the Facebook Page Phoenix Project Dance Class and Performance, click on the Message button, and provide your name, school or studio you are coming from, which class you intend to take, and whether you are planning to attend the evening recital. If there are any questions regarding this program, or the details behind it, please contact Elizabeth Calhoun on her Facebook page and send her a private message, and she will get back to you!
We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting event! We know that everyone who attends will come away with new skills, new friends, and will become enthusiastic fans of Phoenix Project Dance!
